Penland Crossroads is wonderful. It feels too big though. What’s the other side of the room, opposite to the dessert station even being used for? Some people tell me the bathrooms are over there, but I don’t really know because I’ve never had time to check. Why would I go to where the dessert station is not?

It didn’t used to be my favorite day. That is, until I discovered the best Instagram account on my favorite topic.
And that topic is man buns, also known as “muns.”
The results are in, and the prognosis looks grim. Half of Texas is one financial crisis away from slipping into poverty, according to a report released last week by the Corporation for Enterprise Development. The corporation also ranked Texas 41st among states that help its residents protect their assets.
It’s a classic job interview cop-out. When asked, “What’s your biggest weakness?” simply answer, “Oh, I’m too much of a perfectionist.” Why? Because the word perfectionist kindles positive thoughts of how hard-working and detail-oriented a person is.
I started my college career out as a University Scholar, which meant I had a great deal of latitude when it came to selecting classes. Since base requirements were not an issue, I decided to focus on classes that would either be more necessary or enjoyable.
The Lariat got served a gag order Thursday. Upon seeing it, I was at a complete loss for words.
As I stuffed my mouth with pizza, Oreos and queso, I realized there was something I enjoyed more than simply eating and watching football (which is pretty hard to top in both Texas and my native state Oklahoma). The game was made so much more enjoyable being in the company of some of my closest friends.
I play the “I’m too busy” card too often. Especially when it comes to keeping up with current events.
But consider the other element of verbal communication that appears to be an invisible companion to words: choice.
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn all ask us to submit a “biography,” 140 characters to sum up our lives, who we are, what we’re apart of, etc. They reflect a culture that is shifting more and more toward putting ourselves into neat boxes.
Ask any student (especially a freshman living in the residence halls) what they think about Airbear, Baylor’s wireless network. Chances are, the comments you hear will be less than stellar – the connection is spotty, the speed is slow and you never know which areas will have a connection.
You’re sitting in a class, the professor is giving a lecture, and then he pauses to direct a question to the class. There’s silence. Then more silence. Then it becomes an awkward silence. Eventually the professor moves on, but it’ll happen again.
When the 113th congressional term opened, House Republicans said they would not put effort into moving approval for Keystone XL, a transnational pipeline that would snake from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, through Congress.

With the overwhelming number of new experiences we must navigate and manage, the conviction that the decisions made in college determine the greater part of our lives can prove daunting.
Sometimes it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. This is especially true when it comes to movies that are supposedly “based on a true story.”
Online streaming systems will create a world without the need for movie theaters or movie distribution.
Journalism was neither a popular nor healthy career choice in 2014. Despite this, I’ve known journalism was my calling for a few years now. I know that I was born to write for newsprint.
In 1 Corinthians 6:19 Christ says, “Do you not know your body is your temple?”
For years, I was dead-set against ink because of the moral stigmas that I had against decorating your “temple” with different shapes or designs that people find artistically pleasing.
Campus has been abuzz ever since it was announced that ESPN’s College GameDay will be broadcasting live from the banks of the Brazos on Saturday for the first time.
While back home over Thanksgiving break, a local business owner told me that for the past 20 years African-Americans had committed all crimes in our area of East Texas.
The College Football Playoff discussion is utter chaos. Never have I seen a season where there is as much dispute over who is better than the other within conferences than this season. Six teams – Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, TCU, Baylor and Florida State – are jockeying for just four spots in the first-ever College Football Playoff.
Everybody knows college can be stressful at times.
The holidays bring many good things that are acknowledged everywhere: dessert, decorations, celebrating with loved ones, and every other good thing you can think of. What we do not usually talk about are the stressful things that come with the holidays.
