“Instead of celebrating the holiday, it becomes celebrating the coming together again, which is true for a lot of international families,” Oh said. “There’s a special element to it. It becomes more of being present with the family and just enjoying each other’s company.”

As we approach the end of the semester and the holiday season, we need to focus a little more time on the festivities; after all, this only happens once a year.
“Sometimes people don’t associate Christmas with faith,” Sobh said. “People often think, ‘why wouldn’t you celebrate Christmas, why wouldn’t you get a Christmas present?’ I feel like it can isolate people who don’t celebrate Christmas, especially people of the Jewish faith or non-Abrahamic faiths.”
“I’m very grateful for those traditions looking back,” Renshaw said. “I definitely took them for granted at the time.”
A thankful heart doesn’t need to make a huge gesture to have an impact on someone’s life or your own. Next time you stop to be thankful, hopefully it isn’t simply because someone asked what you’re thankful for.
Baylor’s Christmas on Fifth has made a 21-year journey, bringing traditions back each year while also welcoming new activities for the festive day.
The holiday season is approaching and so are finals, but students shouldn’t let the stress from their classes carry over into their celebration of the holidays.
It’s Christmas music season — and, sorry haters, but rocking around the Christmas tree starts on Nov. 1. Once the spooky season is over, it’s time to deck the halls, and the most wonderful time of the year wouldn’t be complete without the holiday tunes we all love.
Some might disagree, but I believe Christmas is about more than the birth of Christ. I know that sounds ridiculous, because it has his name in it. I certainly acknowledge that Jesus is the reason a lot of people celebrate Christmas, but I have different reasons.
This year, the organization plans to drop off 350 presents in late November or early December. Both toy donations and monetary donations from the Baylor community are accepted.
With houses illuminated with bright lights, children eagerly awaiting Santa’s arrival and friends and family gathering after not seeing each other for a long time, the holiday season is the perfect time to participate in fun games and traditions.
Baylor faculty look forward to celebrating the holiday season while school is out with traditions and plans of their own.
Whether students plan on traveling home or staying in Waco for a week of food and football, Friendsgiving dinners provide an opportunity to celebrate and share a meal with loved ones.
