The third and shortest week of classes thus far has almost concluded. If you’re already drowning in work like I am, here are some upcoming events to ease your tired brain.
Come From Away | Sept. 11-17 | Times vary | Waco Civic Theatre, 1517 Lake Air Drive | $30-40 | “Come From Away” is an incredible show that will tug at your heartstrings. The musical is based on the true story of a plane that had to land in Gander, Newfoundland following the 9/11 attacks. Head to Waco Civic Theatre to enjoy this indoor activity and some musical storytelling.
Dead Love Club | Sept. 11 | 8:30 p.m. | The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill, 511 S. Eighth St. | $8.94 General Admission | Take a trip to The Backyard and through time to the ‘80s with Dead Love Club.
Suede | Sept. 12 | About 5:15 p.m. | Outside McLane Stadium, 1001 S. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. | Free | The Baylor Backyard Live concert series kicks off this weekend with local Waco band Suede. The band’s genre is a mix of R&B, funk, rock and jazz.
Deep Blue Something | Sept. 12 | 8:30 p.m. | The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill, 511 S. Eighth St. | $19.85 General Admission | Experience some alternative rock with Deep Blue Something, an alternative rock band best known for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
UNight: Clay and Create | Sept. 12 | 8-11 p.m. | Barfield Drawing Room, Bill Daniel Student Center | Free to students | For the on-campus student searching for arts and crafts, the Baylor Union Board provides weekly UNight activities. This Saturday, play with some clay and create something with your hands.
Adult Skate Night | Sept. 17 | 8-10:30 p.m. | Skate Waco, 401 Towne Oaks Drive | $10 | If schoolwork has you stuck and you’re looking for a way to blow off steam, glide over the Skate Waco for adult skate night. Grab your friends, strap on some skates and roll your worries away.
