    FRIDAY MARCH 16

     

    Spring at the Silos: Artisans from across the country will be gathering at the Silos for a vendor fair. The free Downtown Trolley will have extended hours and a temporary route to and from McLane Stadium. Free / No tickets necessary | Three-day event from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. through Saturday at Magnolia Market, 601 Webster Ave.

    Waco Charity Open Disc Golf Pro Tour: The Waco Charity Open has been around for over 20 years. The Brazos Park course along the riverfront challenges both distance and accuracy in the open nine holes in the tight woods. | 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Cameron Park, 2601 Sturgis Rd.

    Brain Awareness Week: Enjoy daily hands-on activities provided by professors and students from Baylor University’s Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. This global campaign brings attention to brain science advances and advocates for science funding. Exhibit included in admission price, free for students and faculty | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. through Friday at Mayborn Museum Complex, 1300 S University Parks Drive

    Texas Wildflower Paint Horse Show: The Texas Paint Horse Club is hosting a show to promote interest in the American Paint horse by encouraging breeding for conformation, ability and color. | 12 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Extraco Events Center, 4601 Bosque Blvd

    The Lion King, Jr.: This musical tells the story of Simba, a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands; however, after Simba’s uncle Scar murders Mufasa, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile. | Tickets are $7-12. Showtimes are Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm. at Jubilee Theatre, 1319 N. 15th St.

    HEB Celebrity Cookoff: Waco’s elite and notorious will go head to head in a cooking competition to raise money for the Waco ISD Education Foundation. The theme of this year is “Reach for the Stars”! Sample favorite recipes from the kitchens of Waco’s best known celebrities, and enjoy complimentary wine. | 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the Waco Convention Center, 100 Washington Ave.

     

     

    Baylor Symphony Orchestra: The Baylor Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of Stephen Heyde, Director of Orchestral Activities and Conductor-in-Residence. Free admission. | 7:30 p.m. at Jones Concert Hall, 110 Baylor Ave.

    G(reen) Troupe’s St. Patty’s Day Show!: Baylor’s best and only improv comedy troupe is back to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Resident comedians will devise tales and zany characters based on suggestions from the audience. | $3 at the door, shows are Friday March 16th @ 10:00 PM and Saturday March 17th @ 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM at the Mabee Theatre, 60 Baylor Ave.

    House Show: Radio BU, Baylor’s student-run radio station, is co-hosting a concert for The Happy Fits, a band from New Jersey. | Doors open at 7:30 p.m., 2020 S 10th St., Apt. C.

     

    SATURDAY MARCH 17

    Waco Downtown Farmers Market: A variety of vendors featuring the best local agricultural producers and artisan vendors within 150-miles of Waco. | 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 500 Washington Ave.

    St. Patrick’s Jubilee Festival: Children’s and family activities, games and food will be available in the Jubilee Food Market, World Cup Cafe parking lot. Events include games, a raffle, costume and photo booth, coloring contest, cupcake and cookie decoration, drinks, scavenger hunt. | 9:00 a.m. to noon, Jubilee Park, N. 15th St. and Colcord.

    The Texas Food Truck Showdown: The 4th annual Texas Food Truck Showdown will host more than 30 food trucks from across the state. | 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Square, Corner of 3rd St and Washington Ave.

    Waco Downtown History Walk: Learn history, legends and lore, as well as fun things to do, and places to eat and shop in and near downtown Waco on this approximately two hour, 2.5 mile narrated walk. | 3:00-5:30 p.m., meet at McLennan County Courthouse, at the corner of 6th and Washington. Pay as you wish, suggested donation: $15.

    Waco Jazz Orchestra Concert- “Jazz At The Movies”: The orchestra, accompanied by internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist Tyrha Lindsey, will be performing a variety of all time favorites songs that were made popular on the silver screen. | Reserved Tickets are $25 VIP, $20 Floor, and $10 Balcony. Doors open at 7:30.

     

     

     

    SUNDAY MARCH 18

     

    Art Reception: Reception for the Texas Fine Artists exhibit, which runs through April 8. | 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm at the Carleen Bright Arboretum, 9001 Bosque Blvd.

     

    Live Music at the Backyard: Kayla Ray (Country) | Cover charge applicable, The Backyard Bar, Stage and Grill, 511 S. 8th St.
