The Baylor Board of Regents met Friday and approved construction on a new chapel and an official name for the new track and field facility.

Completion of Elliston Chapel is planned for spring 2015, near Hallie Earle Hall and the East Village property. Lead by a gift from Molli, BA ‘75 and Gary Elliston, $1.7 million dollars will now support the construction and design of the chapel with Friday’s board approval.

“We are truly grateful to Molli and Gary Elliston for this generous gift to the University,” Richard S Willis, BBA ’81, MBA ’82, chair of the Baylor Board of Regents said in a press release Friday. “Molli and Gary believe that the pursuit of truth and calling is at the heart of the Baylor student experience. With this gift, the Ellistons have made possible the creation of a sacred space on our campus that will provide the opportunity for worship and reflection and empower our students as they become agents of transformation, advancing God’s kingdom in all that they do.”

The Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium, named for the former director of track and field, and Baylor’s longest-tenured coach, is scheduled for completion spring 2015.
