Year: 2011

He is one of three players in the history of the FBS with more than 10,000 yards passing and 2,000 yards rushing, graduated both high school and college early, competed in the Olympic Trials at the age of 17, is a finalist for the Manning Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and the Heisman trophy.

Even Superman can’t do it alone. While most of the credit for the Bears’ stellar offense this season is attributed to Heisman hopeful quarterback Robert Griffin III, and rightfully so, one player stands out as Griffin’s right-hand man when the Bears take the field on offense.

The Bears will have the luxury of staying in Texas to play in their second bowl in 2 years. The Valero Alamo Bowl will be played at San Antonio’s Alamodome, in San Antonio which has a capacity of 66, 000.

The punchline, “Texans are very fond of showing off the places where we killed people,” may have some thinking the obvious place to visit in San Antonio is the Alamo, but the historic city has much more to offer visitors than an old battle ground.

I am absolutely thrilled with your decisions this year. Although the vast majority of America wants to see a playoff system and there are probably ways to have that make more money anyways, you guys have really stuck to your corrupt principles and kept the BCS Championship series.

The successes of the 2011 football season didn’t need just the football team to rise up, it needed all of us. We are Baylor.

The ninth-ranked Texas defense made statements all week, saying it would not let junior quarterback Robert Griffin III win the Heisman against it. In the 48-24 victory Saturday Floyd Casey Stadium, however, it was Baylor’s defense that made the difference.

Baylor looked to have control of this game, grabbing a 14-0 lead before the eight-minute mark in the first quarter. Junior quarterback Robert Griffin III found senior receiver Kendall Wright for a 59-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the game.

In light of the recent increase in crime around campus, including a Taco Bell drive through incident Wednesday night, Baylor Police are urging students to take extra precautions to stay safe.

University officials have disputed claims made by Dr. Marc Ellis, professor of Jewish studies, that Baylor canceled an invitation to bring a prominent public intellectual to campus.

Baylor students from all academic disciplines can now minor in poverty studies and social justice, a program housed in the School of Social Work.

The Baylor theater department has begun rehearsing for the spring production of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Master’s candidate Josiah Wallace, who is directing the production, gave the Lariat some insight into what the prospective audience can expect about this theatrical interpretation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel.

Four Florida A&M University students have been expelled for their role in what is believed to be a hazing death of a marching band member, the latest blemish for a rich and cherished institution at historically black colleges.

After two successful plays this semester, Baylor’s theater department has three more productions for students and faculty to look forward to in the spring.
