Two Baylor students who were finalists in the Feb. 11 Dallas Regional Japanese Speech Contest are now preparing for the next part of the competition, which will take place March 10 at Rice University in Houston.

As the death toll of tsunami victims in Japan approaches 11,000, Baylor students are raising donations and awareness across campus. The Japanese Student Association has set up donation stations in the Baylor Sciences Building, Hankamar School of Business, and residential and dining halls.
Baylor’s six students studying abroad in Japan are safe and expected to remain in the country to complete their studies despite the tragedies that occurred last week, unless the situation changes, according to Katie Erickson, exchange program and study abroad adviser.
Two Baylor students are advancing to the 22nd Annual Texas State Japanese Language Speech Contest after placing first and second at the Dallas Regional Japanese Speech Contest in February.
