This film is a romantic fast-burn that catches flame quickly and captures the strange nature of how time unfolds. We all live within the construct of time, and the film serves as a reminder of that — to live as much as we can while we can.

This week’s selection of Tunesday songs are not exactly cheery, but they are worth a listen. We’re switching over to a more glum, acoustic vibe with tunes from Bon Iver and Lizzy McAlpine, and sorrowful reflection to a beat from Bad Bunny. Perhaps this week is a chance to slow it down and wallow for a while, and that’s okay.
Thinking before you drink and drive is vital. Before going out, come up with a plan. Have a rotation for designated drivers, or use rideshare apps like Uber. If the trip home is walkable, then travel with a big group.
On April 17, 2013, the West Fertilizer Plant was holding 40 to 60 tons of ammonium nitrate and exploded with the force of 20,000 tons of TNT. The blast caused houses in the surrounding areas to be completely destroyed, along with a nursing home and a school.
It’s important to have such beliefs and opinions, but when you’re deconstructing a tragedy and interpreting what happened during it for political gain, you’re no longer just stating your opinion. Instead, you’re taking the tragedy, removing the tragic aspect of it — the side that calls for sympathy or understanding — and using the situation for your own gain.
As Baylor students, we have a few things to be proud of in our response to the West tragedy. We can be proud of students, faculty and staff who volunteered their time in the wake of the blast to help, who stood in line hours to donate blood, who gave supplies.
I’ve always wanted to change the world, and I thought that coming to Baylor would give me the right tools to go out and make a big impact. I’m a communications major, so I’m not going to cure any diseases over the course of my career, but I thought maybe I could make enough money to make a significant donation to help find a cure, or save up enough money to open up an orphanage in another country.
The musical entertainment portion of Diadeloso had a different purpose this year. Rather than just celebrating the end of the semester, the Diadeloso final concert became another way for the Waco community to remember and raise money for those affected by the explosion in West.
Many places in the Waco community are taking donations and offering shelter to people affected by the West explosion. In particular, some Waco churches have been organization centers for the road to recovery.
It is with heavy hearts that we give our deepest condolences to those who were affected by the explosion in West on Wednesday night. The news releases speculate as to how many people were lost, but there are no exact words to truly express the magnitude of our grief and the grief of those who are lost.
My mom says she, along with countless other parents in Oklahoma City, were in a panic, scrambling to make sure their children were safe. I was 2 years old when it happened, and so naturally I have no exact recollection of that day.
The tragedies occurring in Boston on Monday and West on Wednesday have brought to light the several devastating things that can happen in societies not only across the world or in third-world countries, but also right here at home. My heart has gone out to the people who have suffered and are still suffering and it amazes me every day the generosity and kindness that human beings can show toward their fellow men and women.
