“I think we need to stay on the track of not trying to force anything; I just hope that Christians aren’t trying to exactly replicate what’s happening in Asbury and that they’re trying to have their own mix and really trying to worship God in their own way,” Baker said.

New ways to get involved in the Waco community, and even a chance to win a free iPad, are just a few things Passport To Waco has to offer.

The program is organized by External Vice President Lexington Holt, who wanted to get Baylor students more involved in the area outside of Baylor.

“A major part of being in a community is being involved in it, and that’s what I hope this program does for students,” Holt said.

Look out, grackles! Planes, helicopters and skydivers will fill the Waco sky this Saturday as Texas State Technical College hosts the first air show its had in seven years.

The Heart of Texas Airshow will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Texas State Technical College campus airport on Campus Drive. Ticket prices range from around $6 to $50 and can be purchased via heartoftexasairshow.com

College tuition inflation rates historically increase two times faster than the inflation rate of the dollar, according to Simple Tuition Services 2013. With rates such as these, students may struggle to pay for college.

Baylor’s tuition was $18,430 a year with fees in 2003, and in 2008, the tuition was, with fees, $26,234. Baylor University’s current tuition is roughly $36,137 per semester, with estimated fees attached. Some simply cannot afford to pay.

In the midst of preparing for final exams, maintaining good grades and counting down the days to graduation, searching for a job still lies on the horizon for many seniors. Over the next several weeks, Career Services is offering several opportunities to students seeking assistance in their job search.

U.S. House Rep. Bill Flores visited Waco Wednesday afternoon, touring the construction site of the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative and saying he is willing to use his influence to help the program obtain federal grant funding.

Despite Waco’s cultural diversity, gaining equality remains a challenge for some groups that live here. Even today, there is disparity in the treatment of the hearing community and the deaf community, often stemming from misunderstanding or ignorance.
