Baylor football left the Alamadome field victorious on Dec. 30, 2011. The team returned the field Tuesday for the first time since to begin spring practice.

“RG3” was chanted repeatedly at almost every Baylor football game as quarterback Robert Griffin III led the Bears to 17 victories in two seasons. When the possibility of Griffin leaving for the NFL developed, the “one more year” chant usually followed the “RG3” chant.

He is one of three players in the history of the FBS with more than 10,000 yards passing and 2,000 yards rushing, graduated both high school and college early, competed in the Olympic Trials at the age of 17, is a finalist for the Manning Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and the Heisman trophy.

With the removal of the Big 12 championship game after the exit of Colorado and Nebraska, this final week of games will decide which team earns the automatic BCS bid. Although only six teams are playing this week, all of them have earned bowl bids, making each matchup important for the Big 12 standings and potential bowl positions.

Senior running back Terrance Ganaway rushed a school-record 42 times for 246 yards and two touchdowns Saturday, leading Baylor (8-3, 5-3) to a 66-42 win over Texas Tech at Cowboys Stadium and earning him Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Baylor can reach eight wins for the first time since 1991 with a victory over the Red Raiders, and get to five Big 12 Conference wins for the first time.

The Bears will look to do something this weekend on the football field they have not done since 1939. That feat would be coming out of Stillwater, Okla. with a victory. The Bears (4-2, 1-2), will battle the No. 3 overall ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-0, 4-0) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.

If the rivalry wasn’t heated enough, throw in the conference realignment fiasco that took place in September. Kyle field threatens a hostile environment for Baylor, but the Bears are ready for the Aggies.

Saturday’s game against Kansas State should have looked very familiar for Baylor football. There was a late lead lost in the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Robert Griffin III and senior receiver Kendall Wright were both putting up ridiculous numbers.

The Bears open Big 12 play on the road against a tough Kansas State squad.

A strong 28-0 start by Baylor in Saturday’s game looked to be a blowout. Although Baylor did win big, the Bears made some mistakes that allowed Rice to close the gap to 56-31.
