The course is not discipline-specific, but “student-specific,” Senior Lecturer of biology and course instructor Tammy Adair said. Though the course is open for any student to register for, the Office of Engaged Learning sends out calls to professors for recommendations in order to select students with interests and ambitions that the course specifically tackles. Many of the students who take it are nominated.

“Events like these, like we’ve been doing with Levitt, and the farmer’s market, the whole point is to truly bring [Waco’s] mission to life… which is to bridge communities, to showcase artistry, talent, bring in talent, and then at the same time, create a space where everybody can connect,” Linares said.

Members of the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) can be seen weekly on campus in uniform, doing drills or simply going to class. While their uniforms may make them stick out among their non-military counterparts, few stop to consider their distinct roles as college students who are also military officers in training.

All in all, exploring new places such as the United Kingdom has opened my eyes to the beauty of cultural norms and lifestyle choices other than our own and has left me with a newfound appreciation for them. There is truly something so special about watching firsthand the ins and outs of a different culture. I wish that everyone could have this same opportunity, so that they too might learn to find beauty in a culture and lifestyle other than their own.

With more than 120 different employers in attendance, All-University Career Day is expanding to two different buildings this semester. The Career Center is hosting its event from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Cashion Academic Center and the Bill Daniel Student Center, giving students an early chance to get in front of employers for jobs and internships.
