“Students are clearly answering to the demand the world has in need for health professionals, and you certainly see that in the way that they gravitate towards those schools,” Brickhouse said.

“The point of healthcare simulation is to help students have an opportunity to practice what they would do in actual clinical practice, so they have this safe space that is a controlled environment where they have an opportunity for instant feedback,” Tserotas said. “They’re able to take what they learn in practice, and they can take that to a clinical setting when they interact with their patients.”
Even though Prater has not yet crossed paths with Foli, her impact on the graduate program is already present. Prater, who is currently reading Foli’s book on psychological trauma in nurses, said Foli’s arrival “reinforces [her] excitement to be at Baylor and in the program.”
Students in the Louise Herrington School of Nursing’s class of 2025 officially received their white coats on Tuesday in Dallas, preparing to take the next step in their nursing careers.
Just 97 miles up the road, Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing has been ranked No. 31 nationally for 2024. This moves the program up from its 2023 ranking of No. 39 for best bachelor’s in nursing programs.
Men are nursing the numbers to new heights. About 12% of registered nurses are now male, and according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Southern New Hampshire University’s website, the percentage of men in nursing is projected to grow in future years.
The Baylor Board of Regents voted today to establish the College of Health and Human Sciences. The meeting also included the election of new regents, the approval of new goals for Pro Futuris and presentations of appreciation by the Baylor Faculty Senate.
