In honor of the musical’s ten-year anniversary since its debut in 2015, the award-winning musical is being shown in movie theaters nationwide — including Waco’s Cinemark theater on Creekview Drive — giving audiences another way to experience a show that changed Broadway.

I really enjoyed my experience with this one. The reviews seem to be quite polarizing, but I just don’t think the negative reviewers get the vibe that this thing is supposed to be silly and fun.

“Wolf Man” successfully startled, shocked and horrified me, but at what cost? What scare factors this film showcased were balanced out with several frustrating and predictable moments which caused me to not be able to take the movie as seriously as I’d hoped.

This film is a romantic fast-burn that catches flame quickly and captures the strange nature of how time unfolds. We all live within the construct of time, and the film serves as a reminder of that — to live as much as we can while we can.

Despite the many comforts and amenities theaters have gained over the years, it just doesn’t seem to be enough to keep viewers coming back for more.

I know a battle for spice, the “Lisan Al Giab,” riding giant sandworms and a weird, bald Austin Butler may not sound like a classic recipe for success in the film industry, but that combination delivered the best movie of the year in “Dune: Part Two,” and it’s only April.
