The Big 12 Championship tournament begins today, and third-seed Baylor will face off against sixth-seed Missouri (12-7, 3-5) at 2 p.m. at the Blossom Soccer Complex in San Antonio.

The Bears outscored their opponents 8-1 this weekend at Betty Lou Mays Field. Baylor defeated the Missouri Tigers on Friday 3-1 and was victorious again over the Jackson State Tigers, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon. Friday’s win was due in part to a fiery start to the game and Sunday’s victory was sealed in a dominant second half.
If the rivalry wasn’t heated enough, throw in the conference realignment fiasco that took place in September. Kyle field threatens a hostile environment for Baylor, but the Bears are ready for the Aggies.
Coming off a historically successful weekend for Baylor soccer, the team looks to repeat its recent victories. This past weekend, the Bears surged past two Big 12 teams, Kansas and Iowa State, both on the road. This weekend the Bears will face Missouri at 7 p.m. Friday at home and will play host again for Jackson State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Longhorns seek revenge, Sooners seek blowout, Bears seek 4-0
The Longhorns and the Wildcats are the matchups the Bears will be granted this weekend. Baylor soccer (7-2-1) will continue Big 12 play on the road when it faces the University of Texas Longhorns (6-2) at 7 p.m. today in Austin. Then they will travel back up I-35 to play host to the Weber State Wildcats (2-6) at 1 p.m. Sunday on Betty Lou Mays Field.
The College Gameday setup is down at Florida State, where the Seminoles have been talking about this game all summer long. The big question is: has Oklahoma been talking about this game all summer long?

Baylor fell to a game above .500 last weekend, losing two of three to the Missouri Tigers (16-23, 4-10) to drop to 21-20 overall and 6-10 in the Big 12 with three conference series remaining.
In the most simple terms, the Bears let one get away. Despite receiving another quality start from sophomore Josh Turley, Baylor baseball suffered from defensive miscues and a lack of offensive execution in a 4-2 loss to Missouri on Thursday night.
The Baylor softball team defeated the Missouri Tigers 3-2 with a walk-off sac-fly to right center on Saturday; however, it could not maintain this momentum as it went into Sunday’s game, losing 6-0.
Softball is obviously different than baseball: the ball is yellow and bigger, there is no mound or grass in the infield, the pitcher is closer to the batter and pitches the ball underhanded … oh yeah, the dugout is much louder.
The Lady Bears’ Tuesday doubleheader at Stephen F. Austin was postponed because of inclement weather. Baylor entered Tuesday at 27-5 after splitting a weekend series with Texas A&M, and its next scheduled game starts at 3 p.m. Saturday at Getterman Stadium against No. 11 ranked Missouri.
Last weekend the battle between the No. 17 Baylor and No. 21 Texas A&M softball teams proved how tough conference play will be in 2011 as they split the series, both with walk-off home runs. Baylor took the first game Saturday, 2-1, in 11 innings and Texas A&M took the second, 6-5.
Even after an unforeseen loss to unranked Texas Tech last Saturday, the Lady Bears still have their hands outstretched for the Big 12 title. The men, however, still need to find that extra something to secure a bid for the big dance.
