Browsing: Literacy

If public libraries disappeared tomorrow, the world would lose more than books and programs. We would lose one of the rare places where people of different backgrounds can exist on an equal platform, outside of financial or societal barriers. We would lose access to free information and a space where communities can flourish.

Writing is not merely hanging on despite repeated attacks by the changing world. It’s progressing in tandem with each breakthrough, acting as a necessary component of our technological and communicative revolution.

The world needs parents who are ready to be parents, which results in well-adjusted children. One could make the argument that no one is really ever prepared to be a parent, which is true; no one child is exactly the same, and raising another human being is bound to be a lot of trial and error.
