Some of the events that the Latinx Coalition organized to commemorate this month, included a Hispanic Heritage Month trivia questionnaire, luncheon, loteria, compra local, career workshop, karaoke night, Noche de Rezo worship session, mariachi masterclass and Festival de Desayuno, as reported by the Multicultural Affairs Office.

“The hope was to bring people together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, but also for students to know that the Latinx Faculty and Staff Association is here to support them as they are navigating their way through college,” Diaz-Espinoza said.
The Beckham Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center was filled with traditional Panamanian stories, clothing, cuisine, music and dancing Wednesday night as the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in STEM (SACNAS) celebrated Afro-Latinx culture and heritage.
Students can immerse themselves in the history, magic and tradition of mariachi music at the Mariachi Masterclass at 10 a.m. Friday in the Barfield Drawing Room. The event is being hosted by the Latinx Faculty and Staff Association and is eligible for Creative Arts Experience credit.
With Hispanic Heritage Month approaching, the Department of Multicultural Affairs assists students in learning more about the many cultures represented on Baylor’s campus while providing a space for productive dialogue.
On Tuesday Kappa Delta Chi — a Baylor sorority that represents the Latina community — had a carnation flower sale to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Baylor chapter’s philanthropy.
