The Waco Suspension Bridge glowed Thursday night as hundreds of luminaries lined its walkway — each one representing a name, a memory and a story.

The festival will run from 4-10 p.m. on Saturday at Indian Spring Park. This year’s event will debut a bright, multicolored “alebrije” theme, said Julie Cervantes, Parade Director for Dia de los Muertos and Director of Strategic Development at Creative Waco. Cervantes said she expects attendees to go all out with the theme through their costumes and parade floats this year.
On April 25, Bowling for Soup and Two Tons of Steel will join forces with the City of Waco for the annual Brazos Nights concert series in Indian Spring Park.

Under partly cloudy skies in Indian Spring Park, Creative Waco hosted its annual Día de los Muertos festival on Saturday. Here, festival-goers enjoyed the usual parade, food vendors, dance performances, and more, but something stood out from previous festivals — the prominent monarch butterfly theme.
“The suspension bridge and the Indian Spring Park area, has long been one of our traditional areas for community events,” Cook said. “People are excited to finally have the bridge back open and have this again as one of our gathering spots to come together.”
For anyone wanting “two tickets to paradise,” this weekend, Indian Spring Park might just be the place, as Eddie Money will be headlining the Brazos Nights concert from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. today at the downtown venue. Opening for Money will be historic Waco musician Classie Ballou Sr. The concert is free and open to the public.
