The Campus Kitchens Project announced that director and kitchen manager Alexandria Woo and Baylor University’s Campus Kitchens Project was one of 10 universities selected to receive a grant for their efforts in reducing the problem of food insecurity on Wednesday.

The deadline for students to apply to the Baylor Interdisciplinary Poverty Initiative summer internship and fellowship programs is Friday. Only five students will be selected on Feb. 7.
“I am very proud of the students that participate in the internships,” said Rosemary Townsend, the director of business affairs and community partnerships for the Initiative. “It’s been extremely popular. It’s a big part of what we do.”
Wasting less by feeding more is the name of the game for the folks at Baylor’s Campus Kitchen.
Tuesday afternoon, members of Campus Kitchen met at the Mary Gibbs Jones Family and Consumer Sciences Building to begin the first daily food collection of the semester. Memorial, Penland and Collins dining halls kept leftover food hot for the pickup after 3:30 p.m.
Campus Kitchen is a national service organization that helps students relieve hunger in their communities by working through universities and high schools.
