Just like in many Baylor Christmas seasons past, the School of Music will hold its annual “A Baylor Christmas” choir and orchestra performances on Dec. 5, 6 and 8. However, the holiday tradition has found a new home this year in Waco Hall, Memphis junior Elie Lassiter said.

Musicians dressed to the nines and numerous attendees poured into Jones Hall on Thursday night for the Baylor Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble concert. This was no ordinary show, as world-renowned composer and conductor Frank Ticheli made a guest appearance at the concert where students played several of his compositions.
“The smaller size, combined with an extremely supportive culture leads to more opportunities than one could imagine,” Ghaffar said.

For classically trained musicians in the Baylor Jazz String Quartet, “embracing the weird” has become second nature. Although the four members grew up learning to perfect their craft, jazz has become for them what rock ‘n’ roll was for Elton John during his youth.
Baylor’s School of Music presented a concert featuring both Bella Voce and the Chamber Singers on Thursday night at Armstrong Browning Library.
Each organist dressed up according to their piece, with costumes including masks, capes and hats. They were illuminated with orange string lights scattered across the floor and dramatic stage lighting that was coordinated to each piece.
What would have been a regular Tuesday night was made grand and dynamic by the performance put on by Baylor’s Wayne Fisher Jazz Program during their finale concert of the season at Jones Concert Hall. Commenced with the drums, the heartbeat of the band, and concluded with one triumphant, brassy blast from the ensemble, the concert jazz performance was an eclectic earful throughout.
The Lyceum Series is an opportunity for the university to invite distinguished teachers and guest artists to discuss and present on topics of their expertise. It provides students with exposure to broader topics and experts on their respective fields.
Baylor has appointed Dr. Gary Mortenson as dean of the School of Music after a months-long search.
