No. 17 Baylor softball could not pull together one more win over No. 5 Oklahoma following a shutout on Thursday, and the team lost the final two matchups last weekend in Norman, Okla., for the 2-1 Oklahoma series win.

The Bears came close to claiming their first away Big 12 conference series after winning game two against Oklahoma State, but the No. 17 Cowboys crushed the Bears 7-1 in the series rubber match to claim a 2-1 series victory on Monday.

No. 17 Baylor softball played one of their most impressive games of the season Thursday night as it run-ruled No. 5 Oklahoma in six innings to take a big 8-0 shutout in Norman, Okla. It’s the first time the team has beaten a top five opponent on the road since topping Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., in 2013.

AUSTIN – The second-ranked Baylor Bears rolled over No. 10 Texas 4-1 at the Caswell Tennis Center in Austin Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Bears have won nine straight over the Longhorns in Austin, the last loss coming on April 22, 1999.

No. 2 Baylor men’s tennis may not re enter conference play until later this week, but it didn’t stop the team from decimating Seminole State College. The Bears defeated the Trojans 7-0 on Tuesday evening at the Hurd Tennis Center for their 10th straight win at home.

Baylor baseball found its second win in a row on Wednesday after handling the UT-Arlington Mavericks 6-2 at Clay Gould Ballpark in Arlington. The Bears used a powerful start from the offense and stout pitching throughout the game.

The first day of spring brought cloudy skies and rain to the Waco area, but head coach Art Briles and the reigning two-time Big 12 champion Baylor football team didn’t let the weather bother them as the Bears played their spring scrimmage Friday night at McLane Stadium.

With two scholarships in hand, Drew decided to reward the two walk-ons. In front of the team, Drew gave a short speech about how hard both players had worked and how essential both are to the program.

“What we’d like to do is to give them thanks for what they’ve done and offer them a scholarship for this semester,” Drew said to the cheers of their teammates.

Following a weekend of three straight losses to Cal-State Fullerton, Baylor baseball hopes to bounce back over spring break. Baylor, Texas A&M, Louisiana State University, Hawaii, Nebraska and the University of Houston will participate in the annual Houston Baseball Classic at Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston.

The Baylor vs. TCU rivalry is alive and well, but for the No. 5 men’s tennis team, the argument is one sided. The Bears swept the Horned Frogs 4-0 Tuesday night at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center for their 15th-straight win over TCU.

As if one win wasn’t enough, then two wins must be a statement. The No. 5-ranked Baylor men’s tennis team defeated No. 11 Virginia 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center for their second win over the Cavaliers in 15 days.

No. 19 Baylor men’s basketball is getting closer to ending its run in Big 12 play, and each game counts heading into the conference tournament in a few weeks. After losing a close game in Manhattan, Kan., on Jan. 17, the Bears got revenge and took a critical 69-42 win over Kansas State on Saturday afternoon at the Ferrell Center.

The faces change, but the headlines stay the same. The No. 5-ranked Baylor men’s tennis team has a lot of hardware in the trophy case entering this season with 20 Big 12 titles in the last 18 years, including 17-straight NCAA tournament appearances.

No. 7 Baylor softball held its own for six innings against No. 2 Oregon on Thursday night. However, the Ducks pulled together a three-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach as the Bears dropped the 4-1 loss at Getterman Stadium.

Over the next past weeks, No. 7 Baylor softball has debuted its relatively young bullpen in nine games, including games at Getterman Stadium and in the NSU Demon Invitational in Natchitoches, La., showing off a plethora of both experienced pitchers and newcomers on the pitching mound.

It was 39 degrees at No. 21 Baylor Baseball’s midweek tilt against Dallas Baptist University Tuesday night. The Patriots cooled down the Bears’ hot start to 2015 with a three-run ninth inning, making it a 9-6 final score in favor of Dallas Baptist.

No. 20 Baylor men’s basketball looked to make a statement after dropping two straight conference matchups last week, but the Bears had to overcome offensive struggles from the field on Tuesday night to take a narrow 54-49 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock.
