I’m not saying big and bold innovation is bad. It simply means it would need to be introduced carefully. People don’t resist change; they resist discomfort. The best kind of innovation meets us where we already are and takes it a bit further.
The classics are not sacred because they are old — they are sacred because they still speak and instruct us in the present. When we turn them into a canvas for stylized sin without substance, we don’t “modernize” them; we mock them. And worse, we lose what made them worth remembering in the first place.
Under the heat of the Texas sun and into the cool of the hazy, dusty evening, weekend two of Austin City Limits music festival made for a monumental listening and viewing experience, thick with artists of varying sounds and genres, from Latin to country, and pop to experimental rock.
This year, Austin City Limits was a sea of glitter, fishnets and cowboy boots. Between the multitude of sun-protecting head scarves and colorful hair accessories, the festival was filled with unique attire and expressive fashion choices.

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.
