Baylor’s Baptist affiliation seems to spark questions and opinions whenever anything remotely political happens in the community – and reasonably so. In order to respectfully challenge the university’s approach to contentious topics, however, we need to understand what the true mission of a Christian college student should be.

Every election, presidential candidates will choose songs that define their campaign. However, there have been obvious standouts. These five songs transcend the rest with their American pride, uplifting nature and overall vibes.

From endorsing candidates to encouraging voter participation, celebrities have become a part of American politics. While their platform can bring light to issues, their fame does not equal expertise. Celebrities can speak out, but the public should think for themselves.

There is an important question we should be addressing, one that keeps most of us up at night: the daunting question of “is this really what I want to be doing for the rest of my life?”
