Mitch Gilly, a freelance composer and arranger, received an invitation to take up the task of directing Sing when he was a graduate student at Baylor. Since then, Gilly has graduated, but he has continued to return to campus to compose and arrange for one of the university’s largest events.

In 1988, two Baylor students met while participating in Lambda Chi Alpha and The Twist’s All-University Sing act. A casual meeting during rehearsal led to a lifelong commitment, and 36 years later, the Baylor alumni are happily married with two children.

Every year, Baylor alumni who participated in All-University Sing during their time as students return to see the performances put on by their organizations. For many, coming back to campus as former Sing performers is about staying in touch with a community they valued as well as connecting with other alumni.

Clinton Dobson, pastor of NorthPointe Church and George W. Truett Theological Seminary graduate, was murdered on March 3 in his church office. Rather than let tragedy have the final say, Dobson’s family has partnered with his friends at George W. Truett Theological Seminary to create the Clint Dobson Memorial Fund, a scholarship that will serve future seminary students and celebrate Dobson’s life.

Waco drivers are already feeling it. The local average hit $3.38 a gallon last week, up 21 cents in seven days and 75 cents year-over-year, according to AAA data.

Gas prices in Texas have surged more than 70 cents per gallon since the U.S. went to war with Iran three weeks ago. The near-total shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz has driven oil prices up more than 40%, pushing the national average to its highest point since 2023 and sending diesel past $5 for the first time in three years.
