The Baylor men’s basketball team erased a second half deficit once again and relied on another strong performance by junior guard Manu Lecomte to upend the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 61-57.
Junior guard Manu Lecomte was just three for ten from the field, but he hit the one that mattered most, as his jumper with 8 seconds left proved to be the difference, as Baylor edged Iowa State 65-63.
Lady Bears forward Nina Davis, a junior, won some jewelry this summer – a gold medal at the World University Games in South Korea. The 5-foot-11 All-American experienced quite the ride as she helped team USA go undefeated en route to an 82-63 victory over Canada in the championship game.
Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey is a household name in women’s basketball. She has achieved great success at nearly every level possible in a basketball career. In Northwestern State head coach Brooke Stoehr’s own words, “She has got her fingerprints all over women’s basketball.”
The Lady Bears crashed out of the NCAA tournament for the second-straight year in the Elite Eight, just one game short of the Final Four. Head coach Kim Mulkey did not think for a second to call the season a complete disappointment in the aftermath of her team’s loss in Oklahoma City. Quite the opposite, actually.
The U.S Basketball Writers Association and Associated Press both named sophomore forward Nina Davis an All-American on Tuesday. It’s Baylor’s fifth straight season to have a player named, as Davis joins Odyssey Sims (2012-14) and Brittney Griner (2011-13).
