Rumors spread on social media that same afternoon that someone had pulled a gun around the apartment complex, to which Waco PD spokesperson Cierra shipley said via email no weapon was located at the time of the arrest. The initial reason for the first 911 call to the apartment complex is currently unknown.

The Waco Police Department said that for the past six months, men have been targeting unlocked vehicles in small and congested parking lots like apartment complexes and hotels near Baylor, Robinson and Falls County .

Waco PD investigated the kidnapping involving a Baylor student that was reported last week, and detectives determined the report to be false, according to Waco police spokesperson Cierra Shipley.

A Baylor student was kidnapped early Friday morning near the 1900 block of S. Ninth Street, according to Baylor spokesperson Lori Fogleman.
