Baylor baseball defeated Lamar 6-3 Wednesday night at Baylor Ballpark after overcoming an early deficit.

No. 17 Baylor softball could not pull together one more win over No. 5 Oklahoma following a shutout on Thursday, and the team lost the final two matchups last weekend in Norman, Okla., for the 2-1 Oklahoma series win.

The Bears came close to claiming their first away Big 12 conference series after winning game two against Oklahoma State, but the No. 17 Cowboys crushed the Bears 7-1 in the series rubber match to claim a 2-1 series victory on Monday.

Baylor baseball’s reputation on the road has not been great this season. Baylor has yet to win a conference game, much less a series away from Baylor Ballpark this year.

No. 17 Baylor softball played one of their most impressive games of the season Thursday night as it run-ruled No. 5 Oklahoma in six innings to take a big 8-0 shutout in Norman, Okla. It’s the first time the team has beaten a top five opponent on the road since topping Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., in 2013.

While most of the student body enjoyed the one-day vacation of Diadeloso, Baylor baseball had work to do. The Bears (14-22) outlasted Incarnate Word (11-24), 2-1 on Tuesday at Baylor Ballpark.
