After 15 spring workouts ending with an annual scrimmage, Baylor football turns its attention to next year’s 12 regular season games.

With the April 2 spring game quickly approaching, Baylor football diagnoses itself with a healthy offensive pulse and a fresh, promising look on defense.

Football’s path to consecutive postseason appearances started Monday as the Bears returned to the Highers Athletics Complex for the first of 15 spring workouts. As normal, energy and emotions ran high among players itching to get back on the field.

He bleeds green and gold, but not just for Baylor. Santana Dotson, retired defensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers and former Baylor student, served as keynote speaker for the 24th Annual Black Heritage Banquet Thursday.

As Baylor students were waking up to frigid temperatures and no electricity, hoping to find class cancellation e-mails on their phones, four-star recruit Spencer Drango had already signed his national letter of intent for Baylor, the first signee of the day.

After the final whistle blew in Baylor’s Wednesday night Texas Bowl matchup with Illinois, coach Art Briles tried as hard as he could to appreciate the progress his team made this season.

Before speaking at Sunday’s press conference, a smiling head coach Art Briles slapped himself. He offered an explanation to the media in attendance, but there was more understanding among the reporters and camera operators than confusion.

It has been a momentary breath of fresh air for the Bears since their last regular season game on Nov. 20, but this year the breath is shorter than it has been in 16 seasons as they look to down the Fighting Illini Dec. 29 in the Texas Bowl.

Baylor’s seniors will have one last game to wear the green and gold; they will have one last chance to showcase their abilities on the field and possibly earn their eighth win of this season. Here is a recap a just few of the seniors who have made an impact.
