Every gamer, from the casual to the hardcore, has played some sort of fighting game. Some are unbelievably bad — “Shaq-Fu” comes to mind — but once in a while a game comes around that stands as a testament to humanity’s technological achievements.
Students walking into the Baylor Sciences Building earlier this week were greeted by two flat screen Sony televisions complete with first-person shooter “Call of Duty: Black Ops.”
My love for “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” all started one snowy morning in Canada in 1994. When I walked downstairs I saw a medium-sized birthday gift labeled “Sega Genesis.” I didn’t know then as a confused 5-year-old that the box would spawn a new era in my life: the use of video games.
Although shortened this week, our weekly “Great Video Game” selection is “Hydro Thunder,” a boat-racing game that found a place in video game history as one of the all -time greatest racing games.
We’re going to rewind time a little bit and talk about one of the greatest games of all time. I’ll give you 151 guesses to figure it out.
Although I disagree with Keith’s note about the “Call of Duty” series — I’m a pretty big fan of “Call of Duty: Black Ops” and I have logged more hours on that than I’m proud to admit to — I have to agree that “Gears of War” is one of the greatest video games I’ve ever played.
