    Common Grounds: Live music

    Location: Common Grounds | Cost: $5 – $10 | Time: 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.

    Indie and hip hop performer Ryan Thomas is taking over Common Grounds’ outside stage. Listen for songs like “Enjoy the Flight” and “Day by Day.”

    The Grape, Wine Bar & Bistro: Live Music

    Location: 2006 N. Valley Mills Dr. | Cost: Varies | Time: 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

    Every Thursday and Friday there is live music at The Grape. Relax to the sounds of musicians playing while you enjoy The Grape’s freshly-made entrees and appetizers.

    Klassy Glass Wine Bar & Bistro: Live Music

    Location: 723 Austin Ave. | Cost: Free | Time: 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.

    The Dave Wild Band will be playing jazz music as you fork your way through Klassy Glass’ chocolate wine truffles or their classic New York cheesecake.

    Front Porch Pickins Vintage and Handmade Market

    Location: 101 University Parks Dr. | Cost: $6 | Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    Nuestra Voz/ Our Voice Open Mic Night

    Every second Saturday, Mexican restaurant Rufina’s Cocina hosts Nuestra Voz/Our Voice Open Mic night. All ages are invited to share their talents in music, poetry or spoken-word.

    Baylor University’s Career and Professional Development is hosting “BU Suit Up” for Baylor students to buy discounted business attire for up to 70 percent off at JCPenney. Sephora employees will also be available to give hair and make-up tips.

    Climate Change Art Exhibit: “The Art of Survival”

    Location: 1121 Speight Ave. | Cost: Free | Time: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Closed Mondays

    Waco Friends of Peace/ Climate opened the art exhibit, “The Art of Survival,” Sept. 1 at Terry and Jo’s Food for Thought restaurant. Artists can submit art that explores the impact of climate change and pollution on the environment. The art exhibit will be open until Oct. 1.

    John McClanahan: The Velasco Paintings

    Location: Martin Museum of Art | Cost: Free | Time: Sat. 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Sun. 1- 4 p.m.

    Former Baylor art department chairman John McClanahan’s collection “The Velasco Paintings“ will feature abstract landscape paintings and water color works from Aug. 22 to Sept. 24 at Martin Museum of Art.
