Baylor sophomore guard Wendell Mitchell has been granted a release to transfer, David Kaye, director of athletics communications, confirmed to the Lariat.

Mitchell, a native of Rockdale, appeared in 25 games during the 2016-2017 season after redshirting during the 2015-2016 season. He averaged 2.9 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the field and 29 percent from the three-point line.

He scored a career-high 13 points in 17 minutes of a 107-53 win on Dec. 18 against John Brown University.

    Baylor declined to comment further.
