No. 14 Kansas State (4-2, 2-0) at No. 11 Oklahoma (5-1, 2-1)
No. 14 Kansas State returns to Big 12 play as it travels to Norman, Okla. to battle No. 11 Oklahoma on Saturday morning in Memorial Stadium.
The Wildcats were idle last Saturday after they rolled over Texas Tech on Oct. 4 with a 45-13 win in Manhattan, Kan. Kansas State took over the running game and rallied for 245 rushing yards in the matchup. Quarterback Jake Waters was 24-for-31 and passed for 290 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Waters also kept the ball for 105 rushing yards to lead both teams in that category.
The Sooners play host to Kansas State after a slim 31-26 win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry matchup in Dallas on Saturday morning. Oklahoma was held to only 11 first downs and 232 offensive yards in the win. Quarterback Trevor Knight threw for 129 yards on 12 completions and a touchdown. Receiver Sterling Shepard led the team with 63 yards and added a touchdown for the Sooners’ only touchdown in the third quarter.
Oklahoma and Kansas State face off inside Memorial Stadium at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN.
Kansas (2-4, 0-3) at Texas Tech (2-4, 0-3)
Kansas looks to pick up its first Big 12 win of the season as it faces Texas Tech in Lubbock on Saturday afternoon in Jones AT&T Stadium.
Kansas lost a 27-20 heartbreaker to No. 16 Oklahoma State in Lawrence, Kan. after the Jayhawks allowed a 99-yard kickoff return with 6:43 left in the game. Kicker Matthew Wyman made a field goal with 6:55 left to tie the game and give Kansas a chance to take its first conference win since their 31-19 win over West Virginia on Nov. 16, 2013. Quarterback Michael Cummings had 288 passing yards and threw an interception with 53 seconds left in the game.
Texas Tech comes into Saturday’s game with a disappointing 37-34 loss to West Virginia at home. Despite being up 34-20 with seven minutes left, the Red Raiders allowed a 17-0 run by the Mountaineers to lose the game on a last second 55-yard field goal. Quarterback Davis Webb was 28-for-46 and threw for an impressive 348 yards and three touchdowns in the matchup. With the loss, the Red Raiders have yet to win a game since Sept. 6 against UTEP.
Kansas and Texas Tech will play at 2:30 p.m. in Lubbock.
No. 15 Oklahoma State (5-1, 3-0) at No. 12 TCU (4-1, 1-1)
No. 15 Oklahoma State travels to Fort Worth to play No. 12 Texas Christian University in Amon G. Carter Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Cowboys are coming off a 27-20 win in Lawrence, Kan. against Kansas on Saturday morning. A 99-yard kickoff return by receiver Tyreek Hill gave Oklahoma State the win late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Daxx Garman passed for 161 yards for a touchdown and an interception in the game. Running back Desmond Roland had 21 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys.
TCU dropped three spots in the AP Poll after it was stunned with a 61-58 loss in Waco to No. 5 Baylor on Saturday night after the Horned Frogs allowed 24 unanswered points to lose the game in the fourth quarter. TCU led the entire game before the final field goal. In the loss, quarterback Trevone Boykin was 21-for-47 on pass completions against the Bears for 287 yards and a touchdown. B.J. Catalon had 13 receptions for two touchdowns in the first half alone.
Oklahoma State and TCU square off in Fort Worth at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.
Iowa State (2-4, 0-3) at Texas (2-4, 1-2)
Iowa State will resume Big 12 play as it battles Texas in Austin on Saturday evening in Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
The Cyclones took a 37-30 non-conference win over Toledo at home last Saturday for their second win of the season. Sam B. Richardson threw for a season-high 351 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Iowa State rallied for 454 offensive yards opposed to Toledo’s 425. The Cyclones struggled on the rushing game with only 103 yards in the matchup but were able to use the passing game to stroll past the Rockets.
Texas took a tough 31-26 loss to No. 11 Oklahoma in Dallas last Saturday although it looked as if a fourth quarter comeback was in the works. Although being down 31-13, the Longhorns rallied for 13 straight points with 4:57 left on the clock. Quarterback Tyrone Swoopes threw for 334 yards on 27 completions for two touchdowns and an interception in the loss. Jaxon Shipley had an impressive game with 115 receiving yards on 9 receptions but failed to contribute points for the Longhorns.
Texas and Iowa State will kick off at 7 p.m. on the Longhorn Network.
