No. 10 Baylor football leads Northwestern State 49-3 at the half at McLane Stadium in Waco.

In only one half of work, the Bears accumulated 538 yards of offense compared to Northwestern State’s 138 yards. Quarterback Seth Russell set a Baylor record with 438 yards passing in the first half to go along with five touchdowns on 16-for-25 efficiency.

Freshman wide receiver KD Cannon exploded for 223 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. His three touchdowns tied a Baylor record for receiving touchdowns in a game.

Freshman running back Johnny Jefferson has added 58 yards on the ground for Baylor.

Baylor scored its first touchdown only 1:18 into the game with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Russell to Cannon. Only three minutes later, Russell added a touchdown run to make it 14-0.

Later on in the quarter, Cannon added touchdown catches of 81 and 42 yards to tie the Baylor record.

Cannon slowed down in the second quarter, but Baylor’s offense did not. NSU got on the board with a field goal, but sophomore running back Shock Linwood added a touchdown with 6:49 left in the half.

Russell then added touchdown throws of 61 yards to junior receiver Jay Lee and 57 yards to freshman Davion Hall to push Baylor’s advantage to 49-3.

Cannon’s 223 yards rank second all-time on the Baylor receiving yards per game list, behind only Terrance Williams’ 314 game against West Virginia.

NSU will get the ball to begin the second half.
