The campus bookstore now features a repair service for students and faculty plagued by computer viruses, software bugs and other computer-related issues.

The Baylor Bookstore expanded its range of services to the Baylor community with the introduction of the Computer Repair Center.

The Computer Repair Center can be found near the technology department of the Baylor Bookstore.

Baylor Bookstore’s computer department manager Allen Pine said the Computer Repair Center is not affiliated with the Hardware Support Services shop in the Fifth Street Parking Garage despite their close proximity to each other.

“The Computer Repair Center is for student, faculty and staff personal machines,” Pine said.

Anyone in the Baylor community who has a campus identification card can use the new system for computer assistance for both Apple computers and PCs.

“The system is easy to use,” said Baylor Bookstore lead-computer sales representative Jeffrey Tuel. “If you bring a Baylor ID, you can drop off your computer.”

Tuel added that there is a $40 inspection fee and the time it takes them to fix a computer depends on the extent of the computer’s issues.

“It could be anywhere from a few hours to a week,” Tuel said.

Other technology-related products offered by the bookstore include a variety of Apple computers and tablets, DVDs, video cameras and other multipurpose technological devices.

    The Computer Repair Center’s services are available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
