The oldest rivalry in Texas is back for the 122nd edition on Saturday night. But what’s even better than that? Volleyball and soccer will also take on the Horned Frogs this weekend.

The oldest rivalry in Texas returns to Waco

While Baylor could not mount the comeback against TCU last year on a rainy Fort Worth afternoon, the Bears look to stay red-hot against their rivals.

They enter this week coming off a bye and a four-game winning streak. Baylor is tied for second in the Big 12 with a 2-0 conference record while the Horned Frogs are tied for second-to-last with a 0-2 record against Big 12 foes.

Baylor has already turned preseason doubts into midseason excitement. The Bears now want to reminisce on their thrilling win the last time the matchup premiered at McLane Stadium. Despite the squads being on opposite ends of the Big 12, there’s always the expectation that the game will be another classic.

The two face off at 6 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast on FS1.

No. 7 Baylor soccer returned to the win column Sunday afternoon behind a second-half surge to avoid being swept by Kansas State. The Bears bounced back from their second loss of the season with three goals in the final 30 minutes, capped off by a game-winner from senior forward Theresa McCullough.

Baylor is now gearing up for a Friday night date with the Horned Frogs, who are 5-6-1 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12. The blackout will be the kickoff for a weekend with three straight days of Baylor versus TCU.

The match kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday at Betty Lou Mays Field.

VB heads to enemy territory in Fort Worth

Baylor volleyball fell out of the top 25 for the first time since 2018. The Bears answered with back-to-back sweeps. They took down Texas Tech on the road and returned home to dominate Arizona to crawl back into the rankings.

Unlike football and soccer, volleyball travels north to Fort Worth to face off against No. 8 TCU, who boasts a 14-3 record. It will be an uphill battle for the Bears, who are 2-3 on the road, but they hope to cap off the weekend with a W.

The match will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.

    Around the horn

    • Men’s basketball takes on Florida in an exhibition at 1 p.m. Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida
    • Softball faces McLennan Community College at 5 p.m. Thursday at Bosque River Ballpark in Waco
    • Men’s golf entered Big 12 match play in Salt Lake City
    • Cross country travels to College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday
    • Men’s tennis heads south to compete in the Rice Invite in Houston over the weekend

It’ll be a packed weekend: three straight days of Baylor and TCU. This is not the week to wear purple. Maybe consider donning green if you don’t want to look like you’re supporting that school up north.
