Baylor won its first game against TCU in the Mitch Thompson era in the final game of last year’s series. Now that the two squads sit neck-and-neck in the Big 12, the Bears are looking to secure their first series win over the Horned Frogs in seven years.
Now 2-2 in conference play, the Bears’ chances at a Big 12 Championship appearance have regressed into long-shot territory. Baylor’s breakout season, which seemed imminent in early August, is not to be.
Baylor struck first — until the Horned Frogs put their foot on the gas and never let up. TCU QB Josh Hoover starred in a game marred by over two hours of lightning delays.
“Of course, Baylor may be a winner, TCU may be a winner, but it’s the people receiving the blood at the end, they’re the winners,” Frisco junior Abhi Rajkumar said.
The annual grudge match between the Bears and Horned Frogs consistently comes down to the thinnest of margins. With this much history, every game is an instant classic.
Informally called the ‘Revivalry’ for years, the 125-year-old Baylor-TCU rivalry formalized — and got a new official moniker — in 2023.
The stakes, scraping the tile for the better part of two seasons, have been cranked back up to 10. Every game matters, and on Saturday, the Bears played like it. The vibes were high; the intensity was even higher. If they keep it up, the Bears should finish with a winning record — and on a high note — for the first time since 2021.
