Magnolia Market will host its “Locals Only” night at the Silos for Waco residents today. The event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and is free for and only open for Waco residents.

Magnolia Market has taken Waco by storm over the past few years and has brought hundreds of thousands of tourists to Waco, according to the Waco Tribune Herald. While the tourists coming for The Gaines’ newest destination are leading the way for citywide growth, local residents are not as thrilled about the boom as others.

“Magnolia is a great place for the family to spend quality time together. That’s something we really try to make sure happens with Magnolia Market,” said Morgan London, sales associate at Magnolia. “The ‘Locals Only’ night is a way for Magnolia [Market] to give back to the community that we love to share and let them know they are valued and that Magnolia loves Waco.”

“Locals Only” is a night designed for Waco residents to come to Magnolia Market without any tourists. The night features live music, shopping, food trucks and an Easter Egg Hunt for children at 6:45 p.m. There is no entrance fee for the event.

“We love Waco and the people that helped us build Magnolia,” said Emmie Weddell, sales associate at Magnolia. “Sometimes the words ‘thank you’ don’t do it justice. We are so excited for Locals Only and to have our neighbors celebrating each other right beside us.”

When comparing Waco from four years ago to current Waco, locals and Baylor students can see drastic changes due to the fact that Magnolia Market has evolved Waco into a destination city.

“The Waco I began Baylor at and the Waco I currently live in are like night and day,” said Austin senior Erica Reichman. “It’s been really cool to see Waco grow and people love Waco the way I do. I’m excited for “Locals Only” mainly because there won’t be any tourists, which is pretty rare to see at Magnolia.”

Other than the Magnolia Market Silos, The Gaines’ recently acquired the traditional Elite Café to turn into a southern brunch café. In addition to Elite Café and hundreds of thousands of tourists to Waco.

“As a sales associate, I’m really excited to see the Waco community come together. But as a student and resident of Waco, I really do feel appreciated from Magnolia. It shows that they do care and are trying to work,” London said.
