AUSTIN – The second-ranked Baylor Bears rolled over No. 10 Texas 4-1 at the Caswell Tennis Center in Austin Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Bears have won nine straight over the Longhorns in Austin, the last loss coming on April 22, 1999.

No. 7 Baylor women’s tennis snapped its two-match losing streak with a 4-0 win over No. 36 Texas Saturday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center. After getting off to a slow start in doubles and singles play, the Bears (20-6, 6-1 Big 12) got the clean sweep over the Longhorns.

Things get heated every time Baylor and Texas face off in a Big 12 contest, but Monday night’s contest took it to a different level.

After seven players were ejected from the game, the No. 14 Bears couldn’t overcome poor shooting and weak offensive play in the second half to fall 61-59 to the Longhorns at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.

The No. 3 Lady Bears stayed perfect in the Big 12 after they eked out a 70-68 victory against the Texas Longhorns on Sunday in Austin. Baylor (22-1, 11-0) is well atop the Big 12 with a two-game lead over the second-place Oklahoma Sooners.

Baylor football has put together one of the best seasons in school history in 2013. For only the third time ever, Baylor has reached double-digit wins, and that is with a game left to go. The Bears also tied a school record by being ranked third overall in the Associated Press poll for the first time since 1953.

With history behind them, No. 9 Baylor football (10-1, 7-1) will look to match up with No. 25 University of Texas (8-3, 7-1) in the final game at Floyd Casey Stadium. With a win, Baylor can clinch a share of the Big 12 Championship for the first time in school history.

The Baylor baseball team swept the Texas Longhorns over the weekend by winning all three games over the weekend.

“It’s always good to win and always good to win at home,” senior shortstop Jake Miller said. “We’ve got to take advantage of home field advantage. It’s huge and now that we’ve got a good winning streak going and with two road series, hopefully we can take advantage of that.”

The Baylor baseball team capped off a three-game sweep against the Texas Longhorns with a 5-2 win Sunday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark. For the last home Big 12 series, the Baylor seniors went out with a bang by sweeping Texas.

Senior shortstop Jake Miller was 2-4 and scored a run. Senior third baseman Cal Towey had two RBIs and was also 2-4. Senior right fielder Nathan Orf was 1-3 with a RBI as well.

The Baylor Bears defeated the Texas Longhorns 1-0 Saturday night at Baylor Ballpark and are looking to go for the three-game series sweep in tomorrow’s matinee game.

Sophomore starting right-handed pitcher Austin Stone took the mound for the Bears and pitched six scoreless frames and only allowed four hits. Stone also struck out a career-high 10 batters, which is also the most strikeouts that any Baylor pitcher has had so far this year. Stone was in complete control and only yielded three base on balls.

The Baylor Bears took advantage of four errors from the Texas Longhorns to walk away with a 6-2 victory in the first of the three-game weekend series Friday night.

The Baylor Bears host the Texas Longhorns this weekend for the last home Big 12 Conference baseball series of the season. The Bears are 21-20 overall and 8-6 in Big 12 play.

The Bears are currently fourth in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State.

Baylor and Texas came into Saturday night’s game in a minor state of panic. Both teams started the year strong, but each has lost its last two games. The Bears fell to the Longhorns 50-56, 106 points and 1,132 points later.

Senior quarterback Nick Florence finished the game 30-of-41 with 352 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

“I was really proud of the team and how they fought,” head coach Art Briles said. “We challenged them this week to be tough physically and mentally, to have a tough man’s mentality.”

No. 3 Baylor baseball will take on the No. 25 New Mexico State Aggies tonight and Saturday. Both games of the two-game series will be at Baylor Ballpark, and the top 25 showdown should test both teams.

No. 21 Baylor baseball will take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a three-game series this weekend. The Bears have won eight straight and have scored at least eight runs in each game over the course of this streak.

The Baylor baseball team is looking to redeem itself after a heartbreaking end to last season. The Bears came within one strike of winning their first regional title in six years, but a four-run 9th inning by the California Bears sent Baylor into the off-season.
