Baylor’s Department of Public Safety works with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to prepare for events of varying scale, from athletic competitions and concerts to guest speakers and campus traditions. The department also monitors similar events at other institutions as part of its planning process.
In a time where only the tensest interactions between civilians and law enforcement are being distributed across the internet, Baylor’s Department of Public Safety is doing things differently. Lighthearted informational posts and staff bios fill the department’s social media feed, while donut giveaways and bracelet-making workshops fill the time between patrols.
According to the report, campus burglaries increased by 18 reports, and on-campus stalking increased by 25 reports since last year. This sharp increase is contrasted with other categories like rape and aggravated assault, whose numbers have remained relatively the same year by year.
