Among these unfinished projects are missing baseboards, furniture and glass panes for interior buildings. Some individual dorms are lacking window blinds, with others missing the window trim entirely. The elevators are still floored with plywood and missing ceiling tiles. Numerous students have also reported air conditioning and electrical issues.

In their regular quarterly meeting, the Baylor Board of Regents participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Memorial to Enslaved Persons, approved funding for the renovation of academic and residential spaces, renewed funding for the Baylor Benefit program, set the 2024-2025 tuition and approved a new computer engineering degree.
Nichole Bekken, project manager of construction services, said she began planning for the $7.5 million renovation of both Allen and Dawson halls following the Board of Regents budget approval for the year in May. She said she is focused on creating community spaces that will enhance the connections between the LEAD Living-Learning Community—which is the community currently in Dawson—and the IMPACT LLC, following a fall 2022 merger of the two.
“The renovations include several important updates,” the website reads. “These improvements will not only improve the worship experience but also provide a better overflow space for occasions when attendance is exceptionally high. The updated cost of the renovation is estimated to be around $150,000.”
The start of the school year brought the opportunity to live in the newly renovated Collins Hall. What was once known as “Crusty Collins” by some of its residents has now undergone a $41.7 million renovation. The renovation included a new building entrance, a grand lobby, a faculty-in-residence suite and a fitness room.
A renovation project on the building began earlier this summer after approval from Baylor’s Board of Regents during its annual May meeting. Dr. Douglas Henry, dean of the Honors College, said via email that the renovation will focus on creating a home for faculty and staff of the four Honors College departments.
Student government is preparing for the new school year with a number of goals, including solidifying the airport shuttle service, improving safety and cultivating stronger relationships on campus.
The Board of Regents approved two new degree programs, three renovation projects and the 2023-2024 budget during its annual May meeting Friday. It also elected new leadership.
The Fudge Football Development Center, according to Howard, will be a facility primarily designed for the training and well-being of football athletes, specifically as it relates to nutrition, recovery and the cultivation of general life skills.
“I believe even more today how important it is that we have a university like Baylor in the broad and diverse landscape of higher education,” Livingstone said. “We’ve been really privileged to be successful at making tremendous progress on this vision.”
Richland Mall is getting the first makeover it’s had in 18 years. By November, the mall’s owners will have made millions of dollars of renovations in an attempt to enhance customers’ shopping experience.
Cameron Park will be sectioned off with roadblocks for the next nine months and visitors will have to follow posted detour routes to reach their destinations.
Since the first week of August, Cameron Park Drive has undergone a $1 million reclamation project to repair the uneven road.
The entire project, which will be broken into three phases, will continue through May 2014.
Beginning at Redwood Shelter, 2300 Cameron Park Drive, and concluding two miles down at Lover’s Leap, the city of Waco’s engineering department will implement an eco-friendly, three-phase project to repair the road.
All traffic trying to enter the inner parameter of the park is being rerouted.
