It’s hard to imagine the NBA without David Stern, isn’t it? For three decades, Stern has been arguably the most powerful individual in American sports, seemingly with a hand in every part of the game. With his departure, his legacy should be that of the best commissioner in the history of American sports.

The college basketball season is one of the most exciting times of the year. Fans watch their teams battle to get into the NCAA Tournament, which is filled with Cinderella stories and buzzer-beating 3-pointers. But since the NBA’s 2005 collective bargaining agreement, college basketball has been robbed of its true quality.
In 2005, the NBA changed its rules regarding player eligibility. Commonly referred to as the “one-and-done rule,” all players must meet certain criteria before playing in the NBA. The NCAA usually takes the brunt of the criticism for this, but it is an NBA rule that the NCAA has no control over.
The National Basketball Association has been maybe the most criticized league in sports over the past decade. From officiating, referee scandals, biased treatment to even the financial aspects, the league is somewhat of a joke.
For a while now, players have brought a new technique to the game: flopping. Flopping is defined as an intentional fall by a player after little or no physical contact by an opposing player in order to draw a personal foul call by an official against the opponent.

The Western Conference seeding wasn’t established until the very last day of games. The Utah Jazz just barely missed out on the postseason, the Los Angeles Lakers avoided having to play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round and the Houston Rockets slipped from the No. 6 spot down to the No. 8 spot in just two games.
As children, many athletes had dreams of going pro. They fight through the blood, sweat and tears trying to get stronger and faster. However, athletes still need to make time for school since the sport they play is an extracurricular activity.
Players in high school and middle school are required to do the work and pass their classes or else they become ineligible. So once they get their diploma they are free to do as they please, right? Not anymore, at least not if you want to play in the NBA or the NFL.
