“Don’t get me wrong, I was lucky to be part of Baylor and compete in college tennis,” Matias Soto said. “It was four amazing years, but I was ready to move on to do what I wanted to do for such a long time: to be in the professional tour consistently.”
When the No. 10 Baylor men’s tennis team wants to defend their home courts, they mean it. The Bears obliterated Louisiana-Lafayette 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center for their third straight sweep this season.
No. 6 Baylor men’s tennis started out the 2015 spring season with a disappointing 4-3 loss to No. 11 Illinois at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears dropped their final three singles matches after posting a 3-1 lead early in the meet.
Over spring break, Baylor men’s tennis played four sets of games winning three of four matches against USC, UCLA, California and Illinois.
No. 7 Baylor men’s tennis took down Incarnate Word and No. 73 Purdue 7-0, 6-1, over the weekend.
The Bears (4-0) have extended their win streak to four with two wins over the weekend.
“We’re just trying to build some momentum for what’s coming up,” head coach Matt Knoll said. “We just have to continue to improve for what’s ahead of us down the road.”
