Sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Thumann went 2-4 and hit a critical home run and a sharp hit in the seventh to score junior first baseman Holly Holl for a what would eventually be the winning run. “Going into the Kansas house, I know that they are always ready to play us,” senior center fielder Kathy Shelton said. “They always hit the ball well, so hopefully we just have it all together as a team and we go in there and get a sweep.”
The Baylor Women’s tennis team came up short on Wednesday night against 4th-ranked Texas A&M at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. The Lady Bears took an early lead after winning the doubles point, but were unable to keep the Aggies from taking control of the match in singles play and securing the 4-2 overall victory.
“We definitely competed harder in that particular match than we have lately, but ultimately we still fell short,” head coach Joey Scrivano said.
In a memorable Senior Night for Baylor basketball, the Bears upset the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks 81-58 Saturday. The Bears shot 58% from the field.
The No. 1 Baylor Lady Bears will look to continue taking care of business as they face Kansas at 7 p.m. tonight at the Ferrell Center.
The Lady Bears (20-1, 10-0 Big 12) put their 32-game regular season win streak on the line as they take on the Jayhawks (14-6, 5-4 Big 12). Baylor will try to extend its home winning streak to 51 games, whereas Kansas is coming off two overtime victories over Iowa State and Kansas State.

“Getting a ‘W’ finally was a big deal,” senior quarterback Nick Florence said. “I just think we needed to get the ball rolling. We need some more confidence, and this is a big confidence-booster. We know we are a good team and finally we showed it on the field. We played a complete game with no turnovers, the defense got turnovers, they didn’t give up any points in the second half. We won special teams. If we can win all three sides of the ball, we can win any game we play.”
