After falling in a winner-take-all regular-season finale, No. 2 Baylor women’s basketball is set on claiming the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship. Earning a double bye, the Bears will start the journey in the quarterfinals against No. 7 Iowa State at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.

No. 16 Baylor softball captured a series win over Iowa State last weekend as the team blanked ISU twice at Getterman Stadium.

Baylor entered the Big 12 Tournament as a seven seed, but with six minutes left in the championship game, the Bears looked ready to become an improbable Big 12 Conference tournament champion. The Bears came up just short, falling in the championship game 74-65 to No. 9 Iowa State on Saturday.

The Lady Bears won their fourth straight regular season conference title after beating the Iowa State Cyclones (20-9, 9-9) 70-54 Tuesday night in Ames, Iowa. The title is shared with No. 7 West Virginia. It is only the Mountaineers’ second year in the Big 12 conference, and they are already sharing the title with one of the most elite college programs in women’s basketball today.

The Baylor Bears defeated the No. 16 Iowa State Cyclones 74-61 on senior night Tuesday at the Ferrell Center. Baylor’s record improves to 20-10 overall and 8-9 in Big 12 Conference play.

The Lady Bears won in a rout 89-51 against Iowa State Wednesday at the Ferrell Center. The Cyclones came out strong, but failed to keep up with Baylor’s speed and efficiency throughout the night.

We knew that the Big 12 had a chance to be improved, but no one thought it would be this good. Out of the 32 college basketball conferences in Division I, the Big 12 has the number one conference RPI thanks to impressive wins in nonconference play against the likes of Duke, Kentucky, Colorado and Michigan among others.

It was a heartbreaking weekend for Baylor soccer (8-5-3, 1-4-1) as it added two more tallies to the loss column after falling 1-0 against Iowa State in overtime on Friday and 2-0 against Kansas on Sunday.

Baylor played sound soccer this weekend, but came up short on the road in two tough matches.

Baylor volleyball began Big 12 conference play with a straight-set rout at the hands of No. 25 Iowa State in Ames. The Bears lost 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 in front of a crowd of 2,555 to fall to 8-9 on the season and 0-1 in Big 12 play.

Sophomore outside hitter Laura Jones was the bright spot for Baylor on an otherwise tough day. She finished with 10 kills on a .348 hitting percentage. Other than Jones, senior outside hitter Zoe Adom finished with nine kills. No other player had over five. For the match, Baylor had a hitting percentage of .198.

The No 1. Lady Bears played with a chip on their shoulder in the Big 12 Tournament Championship game after a sloppy game against Oklahoma State on Sunday. Baylor responded in dominating fashion as they went on to win the Big 12 Championship for the third consecutive year after defeating No. 23 Iowa State 75-47.
