In 2014 10 years ago the average rent in Waco was $600-$750 and the cost of groceries was $40-$70 on average for one person a week, which means students living off campus would spend around $1,050 on groceries and rent a month. These numbers have only risen since then.

Choosing where you want to live after moving off campus is a big and sometimes difficult decision. One of the first steps is determining whether you want to live in a house or an apartment. While it will largely depend on your individual wants and needs, two Baylor students weighed in on why they decided to live where they do.
In 1987, Baylor began the first college Habitat for Humanity chapter. During COVID-19, the chapter’s impact was stunted for two years, however this year the volunteers were able to engage with the community and assist in building houses around Waco.
