Browsing: fraternities

In theory, events such as formals and dances should be the highlight of our college experience. But let’s face it: Are these events really living up to their full potential, or have they become mere photo-ops?

As we watch Sing next year, I challenge us to revisit our expectations. Ask yourself what is entertaining and what is excellent, and why you believe an act fits in either category (or both). I don’t think it’s a coincidence all six of the people’s choice awards from this year went to all-women’s acts.

I’ve seen competition bring people together in miraculous ways, unifying them under the bond of wanting to win. It turns individuals into teammates, while unexpected leaders often rise to the top, rallying people together toward a common goal.

Fraternities on campus are already in the midst of Rush for the 2013-2014 school year as the groups broadcast their Greek letters through t-shirts and fliers.

College sophomores and upperclassmen can participate in the Interfraternity Council’s (IFC) Rush process during the fall semester. Fraternity Rush lasts two weeks at the beginning of both the fall and the spring semesters.
