“All in all, we want students to have a platform where they can express themselves in the language they’re learning,” Dr. Hajime Kumahata, director of the iMLC and senior lecturer in Japanese, said. “Because a lot of times language study is within the classroom and you just answer — but we’re trying to give students a platform to have fun.”

One of the most pressing tasks on my todo list is to finish my basic courses at a local community college this summer. I’m under pressure because the university stops accepting transfer credits during a student’s final 30 hours at Baylor.

Expanding your world-view can be difficult, but the Global Community Living and Learning Center approaches it in an unconventional way.

The Global LLC program was started in 2008 by Janet Norden, a lecturer in the Spanish department. Along with a group of students, she came up with an idea to expand global education and language-immersion skills.

Students who are a part of the program have a target language that they want to learn, and then they can choose to be placed in a full-immersion suite.
