Baylor Baptist Student Ministry’s newly built, 12,000-square-foot facility opened Wednesday. The building sits on the corner of 4th Street and Daughtrey Avenue, on a plot Baylor donated before construction began last fall. Inside is a congregation hall, multiple meeting spaces, a prayer room, a seminar room, a hall of offices for BSM’s employees and a new location of For Keeps Coffee.

After operating for several years with externally sourced beans, For Keeps Coffee & Bakery has quietly transitioned to roasting its own coffee in-house — a move staff said has deepened both their craft and their connection to the product they serve.
Waco is bursting with coffee shops on every corner, but for the non-coffee drinkers with a whimsical side, finding the perfect tea place with both variety and bold flavor is a tall order.
From sweet to spice, the chai latte has been a reliable coffee alternative for drink enjoyers across the U.S. While Waco has a wide variety of drink spots, I set out to find the best chai, ultimately rating them based on affordability, presentation and taste. Each category is rated on a scale of 1 to 10, with five representing an average. This week, Common Grounds, Brú, Pinewood Coffee Bar, Heritage Coffee and For Keeps were put to the test of creating a delicious coffee house staple.
What Pinewood heard last Thursday, the city is beginning to hear elsewhere. As the Baylor Jazz Ensemble opened their season with its first performance last Tuesday, and For Keeps Coffee prepares for another jazz night, they join into the same song, one of impulse, choice and collaboration.
