More than 80 percent of children from high-income homes graduate college, compared to 8 percent of children from low-income homes, according to a statistic quoted by Teach For America representative Ana Wolfowicz. The organization is fighting to change that statistic one teacher at a time.

This weekend the Bears will face Missouri at 7 p.m. Friday at home and will play host again for Jackson State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

WaterTower Theater in Addison featured the award-winning play “Spring Awakening” on Oct. 3, and Baylor students, alumni and faculty are well established within the production, which will run until Oct. 23. After opening night, the production had an influx of positive reviews, including The Dallas Morning News who said the play “detonates with brilliant, blinding force.” Huntsville senior theater performance major Joshua Gonzales tells the Lariat about his experience playing Ernst in the play.

Baylor took a break from conference play to sweep the University of North Texas on Tuesday evening 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-16.)

When I heard this summer that MuteMath was coming to Common Grounds, I was extremely excited. Unfortunately, a couple of days later I also found out that the concert was sold out.

TCU has accepted the Big 12 Conference’s invitation to become the 10th member of the conference. The announcement came at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school’s campus in Fort Worth.

For the first time this season, Baylor soccer will play two Big 12 games in one weekend. The Bears play Kansas (8-5) at 4 p.m. today in Lawrence, Kan., and then square off against Iowa State at 5 p.m. Sunday in Ames, Iowa. These will be the last two road games of the season for the Bears, as their final four games are at home.

An expert at cake designing and competitor on TLC’s show “The Next Great Baker,” Baylor alumna Megan Rountree now owns a bakery with her husband, Michael. The two started Legacy Cakes Bakery in Addison, near Dallas.
