When Choudhury was brainstorming a theme and lineup for the show, she was looking at significant dates around the beginning of September and found that Sept. 6 was National Food Bank Day. Choudhury then pitched the idea of creating a “Show for a Cause” to Thomas, and they decided that attendees would be able to bring cans to donate to the show in exchange for a discounted ticket.

The 2024 Baylor Giving Day raised more than $2.24 million from the Baylor Family on Tuesday to fund academic initiatives and student scholarships. Toby Barnett, associate vice president and campaign director for the Office of Advancement, said the Office of Advancement routinely works with alumni and parents, but anyone can be a donor.
In comparison to a school like the University of Texas at Austin, which regularly holds events to support the homeless community and has a social work program that collaborates with the city, it appears that Baylor is missing out on many opportunities.
Baylor’s on-campus food pantry — also known as The Store — serves between 65 and 100 students a day and has recently relocated from the basement of Sid Richardson to the first floor of the building’s west wing.
Jonny Salas, owner of L&L Hawaiian BBQ, said there are several options for donating funds and food to those affected by the wildfires. He said L&L is donating up to $10,000 from online orders to provide relief to Maui residents.
The Hankamer School of Business provides its students a unique, hands-on opportunity to manage over $14.5 million of endowments and donations through the large-cap portfolio management practicum.
“As we appreciate our campus and all of the good things that come from it, we really want to instill in our students that is such an important part of society to give back,” Lynch said.
“Modern slavery” or human trafficking happens more often than most realize. The first step to ending this atrocity is understanding the weight of the issue and the impact it has on over 50 million people.

Because of a $5,000 donation by an anonymous donor, the Humane Society of Central Texas can provide cost-free adoptions for 100 dogs at their upcoming Howl-A-Ween event.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Humane Society facility.
