Jury selection will take place Friday in a Title IX and negligence lawsuit filed by a former Baylor student against the university, former head football coach Art Briles and former athletic director Ian McCaw. Following jury selection, the case will be tried in Waco’s U.S. District Court starting Oct. 16.
Coming all the way from Yale University, assistant professor of psychology and neuroscience Dr. Francesca Penner joined the department this fall and is bringing research about parent-child relationships and mental health to Baylor.

Through Transformation Waco AfterSchool Academies, a group of Baylor students serve as power math coaches, tutoring elementary school children in Waco and helping them prepare for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness math test.

In addition to a rise in tourism, funds like the Cen-Tex Minority Business Equity Fund allow for the growth of minority businesses in Waco. The fund benefits minority business owners and allows them to gain access to capital that kickstarts their businesses.
One panel, moderated by Dr. Dennis Horton, director of ministry guidance, focused on the local church and its role in culture and missions. The panel featured speakers from Christar, Ethnos 360, Casas por Cristo and Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Baylor Graduate School announced the addition of the Speight-Jenkins and Pinetree apartment complexes as two new graduate student housing options. Starting in the 2024-25 academic year, graduate students can rent these apartments closer to campus.
